Local Plan Review: Preferred Approach 2016-2035

Representation ID: 402

Received: 27/01/2019

Respondent: Mr James Roundell

Representation Summary:

Keep the strategic gap between Fishbourne and Bosham . Respect nature , the South Downs and the views of residents . Build where the residents want . Do not build mass development which cannot be supported by the proposed infrastructure and threatens the identity of the village . A planning permission for 50 houses is being diverted into a scheme to build more than 300 . This is disingenuous and shows blatant disregard for the views of residents .

Full text:

It is extremely concerning that 300 houses are to be built on this site , effectively bridging the gap between the villages of Bosham and Fishbourne and making a ribbon development . The gap should be kept free of urbanisation . These houses are not wanted by the village and the infrastructure cannot support them . Flooding is a serious possibility . The proposed school does not meet the needs of the village and sited next to the railway is preposterous .
The identity of the unique village that is Bosham is at risk as are the views from the village to the north.
The Council needs to listen to the views of the residents , not developers who do not live here . We all accept houses need to be built but do it sensitively retaining the identity of the village and respecting the views of residents . Do not stuff an unwanted mass of new buildings on a piece of prime undeveloped land that guards the gap between the villages . Listen to residents , respect our views , do not dictate
