Local Plan Review: Preferred Approach 2016-2035

Representation ID: 2287

Received: 05/02/2019

Respondent: Dr Christine Bowen

Representation Summary:

S24. It is very hard to reconcile how the building of over 1,000 new homes in Southbourne on farmland is consistent with the council's aim to protect the countryside, or the stated aim to: "protect the countryside in the plan area from the urbanising impacts of development which can arise from the impact of buildings, structures, lighting, traffic and other activities"

The scale of the proposal for Southbourne is wholly inappropriate. Whilst it might be possible to mitigate the effects with a more modest development - it will be impossible to do so with the nature of the proposals outlined.
