Full text:

I particularly object to this policy as it plans to utilise high grade farmland which is important for future food security, as well as having an obvious and significantly detrimental impact on flooding in the local area. The loss of soak away represents a clear danger to people who have already experienced flooding over recent years; which will only be made worse by this development. I also do not believe that the local infrastructure is sufficient to sustain more homes. The school is already oversubscribed (as are dentists and doctors) and traffic in the local area (particulalry at the Fishbourne roundabout) is already problematic; all of these issues would be made significantly worse by further development. I am also very concerned about this development as it erodes the strategic gap which maintains the identity of Fishbourne as a village; it would be a tragedy to see Fishbourne absorbed in to a vast urban sprawl stretching along the south coast. I note that the Parish has been amongst the most successful in meeting housing targets in previous years, but this latest plan is not Parish or resident led, but simply an external imposition of a target apparently based on little or no justification (or logic). I believe that our past effectiveness is now being used against us as most sustainable sites have already been used. I am also very concerned that these 250 home will become the thin end of the wedge, and inevitably lead to further development of the 1,000 homes proposed by the contractor. This would destroy the identity of my village.
